Employee engagement is one of those funny things, where everyone intuitively knows what it is all about, yet noone finds it easy to articulate. Why is this?
It's partly because we are all individuals and unique and so we each have a slightly different "take" on what constitutes employee engagement, based on our personal circumstances, priorities, work ethics and beliefs. By the same token, every organisation is also unique, with different business priorities, clients, services or products, people and skills, demographics, values and cultures. That is why there is no panacea for employee engagement, no "off the shelf" solution (and don't think we haven't looked...!)
Of course, there are common drivers of engagement - and even these can differ according to whose list you select - but the one thing we all seem to agree on is the potential benefits that improved engagement can offer any and all businesses.
Better employee engagement can lead to a happier, more productive workforce; better customer services; client advocacy; bottom line profits; cost savings; more effective recruitment and retainment; better work/life balance; business efficiencies; more effective business strategy; positive behaviours; collaboration; improved manager and peer relationships; innovation; the list is endless.
As the recession starts to fade, organisations must address the engagement issue to remain competitive and Intuitive Brands can help by advising on easily implementable changes to improve engagement levels.
